Jane Peyton’s Expertise and Career

Hello, I’m Jane Peyton.  Thanks for visiting my website.  As a child I wanted to be a teacher.  Little did I know that education would figure so prominently in my career – but as Principal of the School of Booze!

I am accredited through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, and through the Institute of Brewing & Distilling’s Beer & Cider Academy where I was Britain’s first Beer Sommelier of the Year, and also Britain’s first accredited pommelier (cider sommelier).

I am fascinated by the history and culture of alcoholic drinks and alcohol’s ability to unite people from around the world, regardless of language.  During my research when writing books and speeches I was fascinated to learn what luminaries of history drank – for instance Queen Elizabeth I and Jane Austen.

Alcoholic drinks knowledge has given me a varied, fulfilling and most enjoyable profession and through it I have met some incredible people and had memorable experiences.   One that stays in my memory was when I hosted the World’s Largest Beer Tasting Tutorial (1,236 people) and achieved a Guinness World Record.

These are my specialities with links to their individual web pages for more information:
